Past few weeks has got the best cooking skills out of me and on being insisted by a close friend decided to share the recipe. Wanted to cook something less spicy and healthy with chicken in it. So what better than Dahi Chicken (Chicken cooked in Curd). Curd as everyone knows is the main ingredient used for marinading the chicken before we cook. So now in the next few minutes I would take you through the 1 hour I spent in my kitchen preparing and cooking the same.
Lets start with the Ingredients
> 500gms of Chicken (Cut into small pieces. You can also use boneless pieces. However my personal favorite is the bone one)
> 2-3 Cups Curd depending on how much gravy you want.
> 2 Chopped Onions & 1 Chopped tomato
> 1 Teaspoon Garlic Paste
> 2 Teaspoons Jeera Powder (Cumin Powder)
> 2 Teaspoon Chilli Powder
> 1/4 Teaspoons Turmeric Powder
> 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
> 2 Tablespoon Oil
> Salt to taste
Mix the yogurt, cumin powder, garlic paste, garam masala, haldi and red chilli powder with hands. Add chicken to this. Keep aside for 20 – 30 minutes.
In a pan heat oil and add the chopped onions to it and saute till slight golden brown. To this add 1/2 tea spoon of garam masala if you want the onions to have some garam masala flavour. Once the onions are sauted add the chopped tomatoes and saute.
Now add the chicken & masala mixture prepared earlier to the sauted onions and tomatoes, salt as per taste and cook till the chicken gets soft. You may cook more if you want a thick gravy or u may add 1/2 cup hot water if you need more gravy. Choice is yours.
